Water, Water Everywhere

This estate puts the “Oh!” in H2O

Some people just have an innate need to be around the water, whether gazing across the calm surface of a lake or plunging into the refreshing depths of a swimming pool.
Home-shopping aquaphiles will find few homes in the area that can match the abundant water views and access of the estate at 5N195 Dover Hill Road in St. Charles, now on the market for $2.6 million. Between the private pond out front, the community lake and fountain just outside the backyard, and the in-ground pool, the lure of the water is inescapable.

Inside, meanwhile, that water is visible from nearly every room in the house (the primary suite, in particular, combines direct access to the pool and hot tub with an elevated view of both the pool deck and the pond and fountains beyond.) But there’s plenty of nonaquatic appeal as well, including the dramatic entryway with its second-floor bridge, the expansive kitchen, the light-filled lower-level wet bar, and the executive office suite and sitting room, which in a former life did time as a state-of-the-art recording studio.

In fact, listing agent Skip Masters of HomeSmart Connect says that studio complex hosted several famous musicians for recording projects over the years. No word, however, on whether a cover of “Surfin’ USA” made the set lists for those sessions.
