A Garage Hideaway

These La Grange homeowners had long pondered what to do with the space above their detached garage. Eventually, they landed on a speakeasy-inspired adult hangout space that could double as a guest loft.

“It’s got a full functioning bar, there’s a table to play poker, and a sleeper sofa in the corner,” says designer Susie Wojno of Park & Oak. “We really wanted to make it a secret space for the adults but also any guests.” One of the loft’s most interesting features is its steeply angled ceilings. “We decided to do a half-wall of trim and everything else was painted in a really dark teal blue,” Wojno says. The way the light plays off of the chosen hue (Benjamin Moore Yorktowne Green) is a highlight of the space.
