Fall gardens and a packed dance floor made this couple’s wedding day memorable

Julianne Sinde and Jared Morton

Julianne Sinde and Jared Morton didn’t have high hopes for dating apps—that is, until they matched on Hinge in 2019.

“You hear stories of horrible dates and catfishing and what have you,” says Sinde, 30, who grew up in Western Springs and now works in sales for Compass Group. “He was the first guy that was very genuine and talked not just about himself but actually asked questions. Within the first 10 minutes, I was like: Oh, wow. He’s definitely the one.”

Morton, 30, who works in recruiting for Publicis Group in Chicago, was equally enamored with Sinde. “I thought she was so beautiful,” Morton says. “And she’s the most personable person on the planet—she was the easiest to talk to.” Within a few weeks, they were dating exclusively. Two years later, their relationship was put to the test when Sinde broke her leg just one week after they’d moved in together in Chicago. “It was an in-sickness-and-in-health moment,” Sinde says. “I think we grew together because, at that point, I was truly depending on him for everything.”

In spring 2022, Morton planned an elaborate proposal for Sinde. “She’s the most extroverted person and has so many friends, so we planned this huge surprise party for the engagement with friends flying in from out of town,” Morton says. When a case of COVID-19 foiled his plan at the last minute, he pivoted and proposed weeks later on the Chicago Riverwalk, just the two of them.

They married September 30 at St. Francis Xavier in LaGrange, where Sinde attended grade school. “I think it’s the prettiest church in the western suburbs,” she says. Next, they headed to Cantigny Park in Wheaton for portraits in the gardens and in front of the McCormick Mansion’s reflecting pool. They ended the night with dinner and dancing under a tent at Cantigny Golf Club with tunes from Bluewater Kings Band. “The dance floor was packed the whole night,” Sinde says. They honeymooned in Thailand and spent time exploring bustling Bangkok, visiting an elephant sanctuary in Chiang Mai, and marveling at the beaches of Phuket and the Phi Phi Islands. They are looking forward to more adventures together as newlyweds, including a trip to Greece and Italy this summer.
