This Naperville estate is something of a royal refuge

Some properties just know how to announce themselves. Take the estate at 1239 Oxford Lane in Naperville—now on the market for $3.65 million—which has a decidedly regal bearing and isn’t afraid to flaunt it. From the gated entrance and the imposing scale to the arched doorways and the turret-like features, the old saw of a home that’s “fit for a king” has rarely seemed so apt.

The luxury interior—designed with a heavy emphasis on crisp black-and-white motifs and geometric patterns—certainly holds up its end of the royal standard. With more than 10,000 square feet of above-ground living space, there’s plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the six bedrooms, the dual high-end kitchens (one of which includes a pizza oven), the bright four-seasons room, and the seven fireplaces.

Meanwhile, the lower level boasts another nearly 4,800 square feet of finished space and functions as the court of this palace—a gathering place for entertainment and amusements where guests can relax and take in the spacious great room, the full kitchen and bar, the movie theater, and the fully equipped gym, complete with sauna.

For those prospective homeowners really buying into the regal vibe, there is one thing worth noting, however. While the large fenced backyard may seem like an ideal spot for a jousting field, there may be some zoning issues for something like that.
