Looking to relieve the overcrowded conditions of its current facility in Wheaton, DuPage County Animal Services is planning a major expansion to the DuPage Animal Shelter. With construction set to begin next March, the 9,750-square-foot upgrade will include additional dog kennels and separate rooms for cats, as well as a new primary entrance, expanded veterinary facilities, and space for animal-related education classes. The project is expected to cost roughly $11 million, funded primarily through donations. –M.L.
