Chicago Sinfonietta Concert IV: Arab Spring: Political Awakenings

Location: Wentz Concert Hall at North Central College, Naperville, IL 60540
Start Date/Time: April 20, 2013 - 8 pm
End Date/Time: April 20, 2013 – 10 pm

The ultimate effect of the Arab Spring is yet to be known, but its cry for freedom continues to resonate. Led by Mei-Ann Chen, the Chicago Sinfonietta acknowledges this yearning with the Chicago premiere of Simon Shaheen’s “Oud Concerto,” echoed by William Levi Dawson’s spiritual-based “Negro Folk Symphony” and Mozart’s Turkish-inflected “Abduction from the Seraglio.”
