The Lysander Piano Trio – praised by The Strad as an “…incredible ensemble, [with] passionate playing, articulate and imaginative ideas and wide palette of colours” – joins the DSO for Beethoven’s extraordinary Triple Concerto, a tour-de-force for violin, cello, and piano soloists. Shostakovich’s pivotal Symphony No. 5, Op. 47 – the “Soviet artist’s creative response to justified criticism” – provides a powerful conclusion to this memorable program.
