Naperville author Taylor LaVonne invites local readers to an evening celebrating women’s sports, storytelling, and empowerment through fiction.

The evening will begin with a talk about the state of women’s sports, focusing on the WNBA, women’s college basketball, and the new Unrivaled women’s 3-on-3 league. A short reading, Q&A, and book signing will follow.

Attendees will also be able to enter a raffle to win a free copy of LaVonne’s debut novel, A Shot at Love, or purchase signed copies onsite.

A Shot at Love, featured in the Indie section of Kirkus Reviews, tells the story of Annie Larger, a WNBA player whose career and love life collide in a story that redefines what it means to be a heroine. “I wanted to create a story where the athlete — the hero of her own journey — is a woman,” says LaVonne.

A Shot at Love is available now through Amazon and bookstores nationwide, and is the first in LaVonne’s planned series celebrating women athletes as romantic leads.
