“Tiptoe Through the Tubas” during the Naperville Municipal Band’s free spring concert, “Spring into Spring,” to be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 7 at Neuqua Valley High School, 2360 95th St., Naperville. This is a joint concert with the Gregory Middle School Wind Ensemble. Together, the two bands will play selections from Lés Miserables and a Sousa march.

The featured soloist is Marty Erickson, who is a lecturer of tuba, euphonium and chamber music at the Conservatory of Music at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis. He was principal/solo tubist with the United States Navy Band in Washington, D.C., where he served for 26 years. He has been the principal Eb tubist with the Brass Band of Battle Creek for the past 20 years. He has performed as a soloist/clinician throughout Western Europe, China, Japan, Scandinavia, United Kingdom, Bermuda, Cuba and in 48 of the 50 United States. He also is presenting a tuba/euphonium master class on Friday, April 5 at Gregory Middle School, which is being sponsored by the Naperville Municipal Band.
