At 0630, he landed on Omaha Beach—it was his first day in combat. Historian Christophe Gosselin will moderate and share more about the history behind Shay’s service in World War II, including his D-Day memories. Shay is a Penobscot tribal elder and decorated veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. Additionally, Shay served in the United States Air Force, in a weather squadron and took part in Operation Castle during the Cold War in the Marshall Islands. Registration required. Free.
