With a brick exterior, slate roof, walls of windows, and manicured gardens, the J. Jordan custom-built home is impressive from the exterior—but the opulent kitchen, the hub of the home designed by Megan Winters, is the centerpiece. Anchored by an Absolute Black granite island with seating for six, bespoke cabinetry from O’Brien Harris surrounds Wolf and Meile appliances, including an icemaker and a wine refrigerator in the walk-in butler’s pantry. These areas, as well as the striking foyer, feature black-and-white marble floors with radiant heat from Paris Ceramics. A top geothermal company in Chicago designed the home’s HVAC system, which is one of the best features, says listing agent Ginny Stewart. “It’s very energy efficient, as well as quiet and clean.” Ginny and her daughter and colleague Paige Stewart agree that the property is unique. “It’s our favorite house,” says Paige. “I like that it’s embellished with quality. Every piece of it—the hardware, the lighting fixtures, the windows—is the best of what you can buy, but it’s low-key and sophisticated and a very classic house that fits into the neighborhood.” With a prime location in southeast Hinsdale, residents can walk to all three schools and to downtown. “The area has the biggest, most sought-after pieces of property,” says Ginny. $3,950,000 | 827 S.
