Yorktown Center breaks ground on a new multiuse “lifestyle hub”

A rendering of The Square, a new development in Yorktown Center

Pacific Retail Capital Partners and Synergy Construction recently broke ground on a new mixed-use development that will transform the area around Yorktown Center’s shuttered Carson Pirie Scott anchor into a “lifestyle hub” featuring dozens of new shops and restaurants, more than 600 residential units, and a one-acre green space known as The Square. The Fresh Market grocery chain is among the retailers committed to opening in the new 12-acre neighborhood over the coming months, alongside a growing list of restaurant and entertainment brands that will include Tapville Social, Empire Burgers + Brew, Dave & Buster’s, and Ancho & Agave. Phase 1 of the project—which involves full demolition of the Carson’s space, ongoing construction of the residential towers, and the opening of the park—is set to be completed by summer 2026.
