When Wheaton College sweethearts Lindquist and Sandberg, both 23, talked about getting married, Lindquist knew he had a lot to live up to in terms of a proposal. “My family has a history of over-the-top engagements,” Lindquist says. Case in point: His dad proposed to his mom in the back of a cop car after a friend on the police force pretended to arrest them.
A manager at cryptocurrency hedge fund Pure Crypto, Lindquist saw the perfect opportunity for an epic proposal of his own when he heard that Sandberg, who works at parachurch organization Young Life, had planned a spring break trip to a friend’s home in Montana. He hired a photographer to pose as a friend of the host’s family and commemorate the trip with an impromptu photo shoot of Sandberg and her girlfriends. When a heavy snowfall foiled his plans to interrupt the shoot on horseback, he rode in on a snowmobile instead—and the photographer captured it all on film.
The rose gold engagement ring that Lindquist gave Sandberg inspired many details in their dazzling wedding for 240 guests at Company 251 in Aurora, including the rose gold lettering on their invitations, metallic lanterns and signature cocktails served in copper mugs.
Their ceremony included scripture readings and worship songs as well as their own heartfelt vows. “We wanted it to be like a picture of the love that we know God has for us and that we have for each other,” Sandberg says. After a champagne toast at midnight the couple were sent off in a cloud of confetti to a honeymoon in Negril, Jamaica.
