With rental car companies short on available vehicles coming out of the pandemic—not to mention the legendary hassles of dealing with rental counters (see Steve Martin’s hilariously profane soliloquy in Planes, Trains and Automobiles)—the idea behind Turo, a peer-to-peer rental network for vehicles, seems like an idea whose time has come. Think Airbnb for cars. With rates in Naperville that range from $35 a day for a sensible Volkswagen sedan to $400 a day for an exotically nonsensible Maserati, spokesperson Catherine Mejia says Turo users can book the perfect car for any occasion. “There’s something to suit just about everyone’s preference in style and price.”
