“There really is no rule about hardware,” says interior designer Chad Esslinger. “Sometimes I do all knobs; sometimes people want all pulls. I like to make it look a little more curated in terms of customizing the hardware to the size of the drawer or the functionality of the door.” For the Cozzis’ kitchen, he chose small knobs for the uppers and pulls for the drawers. “I think having the knobs on the upper cabinets really softens everything and makes it feel a little less hardware heavy,” he says.
