Upgraded Commute
A new executive transit service launches this month for Naperville residents who work in Chicago. Squire founder Matthew Beck, 30, started the service in the western suburbs because “Naperville is a phenomenal place to live,” says Beck, “except for one problem: commuting downtown.” Although he’s originally from New York, a move to Chicago for graduate school at Northwestern gave him insight into commuting challenges here. “I used to make the commute from the suburbs to the city, which was absolutely the worst part of my day,” says Beck. “We can provide a much better experience.”

Although there are a lot of express trains, he says the Wi-Fi-enabled luxury shuttles are superior to both driving and Metra. “Taking the train is the lesser of two evils,” he says, “But we want to be a third option.”

Departures leave every 15 to 30 minutes between 6:30 and 8:00 a.m. at Naperville Church of Christ on 75th Street. Passengers are dropped off at any of six locations, including the Loop, Willis Tower and the Merchandise Mart. Round-trip returns resume between 3:30 and 6:00 p.m. Visit squireservice.com for more information.
