An online connection set this Lemont couple on a path to matrimony

When Downers Grove native and Benedictine University grad Adam Honn decided to venture into digital dating, it seemed like the almighty algorithms were pointing him in one particular direction: He matched with the same woman on Hinge, Bumble, and Tinder. Never having been on an online date before, he let a few months pass before he asked Brianna Lerme out for drinks at Chicago’s Fireplace Inn in 2019.

“The conversation was very easy,” says Honn, 30, a sales analyst for Magnatiles, a toy company. “All of a sudden it was four hours later.” For Lerme, 29, a registered nurse at Lurie Children’s Hospital, the feeling was mutual. “We both had to work the next day, and he had to take a train back to the suburbs,” she says. “And as much as we didn’t want it to end, he was like, ‘This is the last train I can take!’ ”

Honn proposed in July 2022 and, with the help of Naperville wedding planner Amy Harloe, the couple celebrated an April 8 wedding at Company 251 in Aurora. Lerme’s father became ordained to perform the ceremony. “My dad’s a really good speaker, and he means a lot to both of us,” Lerme says. “He walked me down the aisle and then just went to the other side of the podium.” The bride’s processional also featured a surprise for her groom. “Adam is a big Beatles guy, so I walked down to the aisle to Canon in D and then it changed to ‘Here Comes the Sun,’ ” Lerme says. The idea was inspired by a TikTok video she saw and shared with pianist Olga Sklyanskaya, who created an arrangement just for the occasion.

Neither one is a big fan of cake, so the couple opted for an ice cream sundae bar followed by late-night munchies from Taco Bell. They honeymooned in St. Lucia and are enjoying newlywed life in Lemont with their miniature Aussiedoodle, Finley.
