Willie Nelson might have been inducted into Country Hall of Fame 23 years ago, but he’s been considered a living legend for decades longer. It’s no surprise; with a 60-year career, 200+ albums and more tours than we can count under his brass belt buckle, this guy’s the outlaw country king. And now, he’s “On the Road Again.” After playing the Top 40 and country circuit in 60s and 70s Nashville, a pre-bandana-wearing Willie ditched his pop-friendly image and turned the country music scene on its cowboy hat with a folk-inspired vibe. His revamped style borrowed elements from jazz, rock, honky-tonk and the blues, creating the unique, gravelly sound that would lead to 11 Grammy wins, collaborations with fellow country outlaws Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings and, yes, Kris Kristofferson, and the adoration of the masses. But Willie’s impact doesn’t stop when he leaves the stage. This braided Texas icon founded the massive concert event Farm Aid to benefit American farmers, entered the political conversation as an activist and wrote a couple New York Times bestsellers. Now, this Texan is in the middle of releasing a series of albums he’s dubbed “Willie’s Stash”: a cool collection of material that’s especially close to his heart. This year, Willie is back on the stage, and he’s got an old friend with him.

Gates open at 6:30 and show starts at 8 p.m. RiverEdge Park, 360 N. Broadway, Aurora
