A Team of Two

Though sales executive Brianna Delaney, 36, and chiropractor Byron O’Hara, 38, both grew up in town and attended Naperville Central High School, they were never more than acquaintances. Because he was a senior when she was a freshman, their time there overlapped for just a year. After college, though, they kept running into each other in Naperville and reconnected on Facebook, discovering they were both avid golfers and Chicago sports fans. The more time they spent together, the more they clicked. Years later, when 60-degree temps on the day after Christmas in 2019 inspired an impromptu golf session at Boughton Ridge in Bolingbrook, O’Hara took the opportunity to propose. “When we got to the end, I got down on one knee,” he says.
They married at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Naperville and celebrated with an elegant Great Gatsby–inspired reception laden with glossy black and gold details at the Carlisle in Lombard.
Their love for Chicago sports was on full display with a four-tier cake from Naperville-based bakery Smallcakes honoring the Cubs, Bulls, Blackhawks, and Bears. Delaney’s wedding band from Costello Jewelry Company in Naperville also had a special significance. “My mother passed away two years ago, and they took some stones out of her ring to put into my band,” Delaney says. “It was something old, something new—it made me really happy.”
In February they made a cross-country move to Seattle with their beloved Great Dane, Jordan, and they plan to return to Naperville regularly to visit family. “It was truly so meaningful to have our families together [for our wedding day], with COVID and everyone being apart for so long. It was the first time everyone really saw each other in years,” Delaney says. “We will always remember that.”
