The Alive Center in Naperville is bringing its free teen drop-in hours for sixth to 12th graders to the Fry Family YMCA in south Naperville as a pilot program the two organizations developed.
“At the Y we are committed to building partnerships and collaborating with others to build a stronger community,” says YMCA Executive Director R.J. Bartels. “We look forward to working with the Alive Center to provide teens a safe place where they have opportunities to discover who they are and what they can achieve.”
The drop-in hours—every Wednesday and Friday from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.—give local teens time to come together to learn, create, and socialize in a safe environment. Activities include teen-initiated art, games, STEM programs, fitness programs, and more.
Alive Center CEO Kandice Henning says, “Parents on the south side of Naperville have been asking for an Alive Center for years. We are really excited to team with the Fry Family YMCA to bring our empowering teen-led, teen-driven programs to teens in south Naperville.”
Parents can preregister their teens at alivecenter.recdesk.com, or students can register onsite. Parents who preregister their teens can sign on to the Alive system at any time to see when their teen signs in and out. For more info, email info@alivenaperville.com.—MD
