Screen to stage
I immediately connected with the character of Zack the guitar player in the movie School of Rock. The idea of one day playing the part on Broadway was a dream. Someone who heard me play sent the casting company a video, and out of the blue I get a phone call asking if I would audition. Three auditions later, I got the offer to play Zack in the musical.
Stage to screen
It was a total honor to be asked to participate in Jesus Christ Superstar on NBC. I was amazed by the costumes, the rock orchestra and the size and detail of the sets in this old armory in Brooklyn. I was nervous doing a live TV show, but it was great to be working with such terrific actors and performers—they were all so very nice.
Big—and not-so-big—plans ahead
I want to continue to act [he recently joined the season two cast of the Spike Lee series “She’s Gotta Have It” on Netflix] and tour with my band, playing my original music in the U.S. and around the world. But I also love to just ski, play basketball and spend time with my family and friends.
