McCormick promoted environmentally progressive agriculture at a 1,300-acre Tribune-owned experimental farm in Yorkville, Illinois. Through the pages of the Chicago Tribune, readers enjoyed daily reports, both serious and lighthearted, informing ‘city folks’ about Midwestern farm life. He will also discuss Col. McCormick’s dream of a blue-colored cow herd and why famed architect Mies van der Rohe designed a house on the farm. Registration required. Free.
