Chicago Sinfonietta – Cosmic Convergence

Location: Wentz Concert Hall at North Central College, Naperville, IL 60540
Start Date/Time: May 21, 2016 - 8 p.m.
End Date/Time: May 21, 2016 – 10 p.m.

Music and science beautifully combine as Chicago Sinfonietta and KV 265 team up for an extraordinary multimedia performance with Cosmic Convergence. Audience members will journey to the edges of the universe through Emmy-nominated astronomer and visual artist, Dr. José Francisco Salgado’s stunningly beautiful films set to music from Holst’s The Planets, Berlioz’s Un Bal, and including the Chicago premiere of Borealis with music by renowned Canadian composer, John Estacio.

This concert marks the 10th anniversary of Chicago Sinfonietta’s first collaboration with Salgado. Over the last decade, the partnership has thrilled local and international audiences alike including 12,000 people who marveled at the 2008 Millenium Park performance. The final concert in our Season of Celebration, this anniversary performance is a fitting tribute to Maestro Freeman whose invitation to Salgado to present his work to music played by the Sinfonietta was the seed that grew into KV 265.

Plus, join astronomers from the Naperville Astronomical Association at 7:30 pm and during intermission of the May 21st performance at Wentz Concert Hall for a live viewing of the stars and planets with telescopes on the Chicago Avenue entrance lawn.
