In 2016, Green Earth Harvest hatched a groundbreaking idea. Instead of preselecting fruits and veggies for its CSA members, it encouraged shareholders to choose specific produce to pick up from the 60-acre McDonald Farm. Not only did subscription numbers rise, but farm manager Jason Halm could plant what people actually wanted. Subscriptions sold out by early spring. Given this year’s debut of a new farm-to-home delivery service ($10/delivery), expect them to sell out even faster.
