Food insecurity is an increasing problem, but a local nonprofit is working to change this by supporting others. The GardenWorks Project will award three grants to local groups—schools, neighborhoods, or businesses—to increase food supplies.
“Empowering the local community to improve the local food system is an effective solution in times of crisis,” says Jeannie Iseman, executive director of the GardenWorks Project, “and we are proud to partner and engage with our community garden network.”
Organizations receive raised garden beds, soil and compost, seeds and seedlings, and training from volunteers. Applications are due March 15. Visit gardenworksproject.org for more information.—MD
