Hide and Seek

In this office for one of the homeowners, designer Dawn Reeves envisioned a wall of storage that’s as attractive as it is practical. “[The homeowner] needed a combination of concealed storage for her books and papers along with open shelving where she could display interesting and unique objects,” Reeves explains. “The whole idea is if she can’t keep everything super-clean, she can throw it behind the doors and close it up.” Reeves commissioned Carol Stream-based European Woodworkers for the build. “When we are spending this money on custom cabinetry, I always suggest we do a little bit more and highlight it with accent lighting,” Reeves says. “Here we have tape lighting running throughout, so the built-ins are illuminated so you can see and really appreciate them.”
