Women’s health clinic embraces an earthy vibe
With the goal of creating a calming, spa-like environment, Graefenhain Designs and architect Bret Mitchell chose an organic, biophilic aesthetic for the recent expansion of the Wright Center for Women’s Health (1763 Freedom Drive, Naperville). The buildout features natural walnut throughout, as well as wallcoverings and artwork reflective of water, sand, forest, ginkgo leaves, and floral blooms. “There is data to support the notion that biophilic design promotes good health through positive emotions, stress reduction, tranquility, and relaxation by simply viewing nature in art, plants, and natural materials,” says designer Angela Graefenhain.
