Corey Ramey has joined john greene Commercial as the new commercial broker. Ramey will lead the firm’s industrial division. Prior to joining john greene, Ramey was vice president at Elmhurst-based Darwin Realty and Development Corporation.  Ramey specializes in owner representation, tenant representation, sale-leaseback transactions, and investment acquisitions and dispositions. He will lead the firm’s efforts in the manufacturing, warehouse and distribution sectors throughout the West and Southwest suburbs. For nearly four decades, john greene Commercial has been a leading commercial brokerage firm specializing in West and Southwest suburban Chicago, and has sold more than 10,400 acres of land. 

Michelle Hurlstone has joined the Pheasant Run Resort and Spa team as the new human resources director for the 473-room resort and expo center located in St. Charles. Hurlstone will oversee the property’s personnel hiring and manage all hiring, training and employee benefits management. Hurlstone most recently served as director of human resources for the Sheraton Chicago O’Hare. Previously, she served in the same capacity at DoubleTree by Hilton in Princeton, New Jersey where, in 2012, she won three awards including Hostmark Hospitality Group’s Human Resources Director of the Year, Manager of the Year 2012, and DoubleTree by Hilton’s CARE Award of Excellence.

Warrenville small business attorney William A. Price has been reappointed to two-year terms on both the Business and Securities Law Section Council, and the Administrative Law Section Council of the Illinois State Bar Association. Price, whose GrowthLaw firm’s legal services focus on business and administrative issues, international and national transactions, and nonprofit law, is a long-time member and former chair of both ISBA Sections. He currently is editor of the Administration Law Section Council newsletter. The 2012 recipient of the ISBA’s prestigious Matthew Maloney Tradition of Excellence Award, Price also chairs The Institute of Illinois Business Law. Originally formed in 1981 by Illinois Secretary of State and Governor Jim Edgar to review Illinois business statutes administered by the Secretary of State, the Institute today is a project of IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Jeanne Hahn, director of Sales and Marketing, and Anthony Tenerelli, director of Group Sales have joined the Sales and Marketing team at Q Center in St. Charles. The Q Center offers 150,000 square feet of meeting and event space, 1,042 guest rooms, and dining and entertainment situated on 95 tranquil acres. Built on a foundation of education and corporate training, and the industry’s best service, they offer the Midwest’s premier meeting and events experiences.

John Dough Bakery has hired Michael Washer as senior chef and baker. Washer joins John Dough Bakery after a distinguished career on the teaching staff of the College of DuPage, Moraine Valley Community College, and Illinois Institute of Art where he taught courses in pastry arts and design. He also has had an extensive career as an Executive Pastry Chef at Paramount Events and Wolfgang Puck Catering, Cenitare, Oakmill Bakery, the Hilton Chicago and Towers, Fairmont Hotel, and the Four Seasons Hotel also in Chicago. Washer has participated in numerous national pastry competitions and has been a finalist three times in the prestigious U.S. Pastry Competition and is a graduate of the culinary school of Kendall College. John Dough Bakery is a neighborhood, family-owned business located in downtown Lisle specializing in custom cakes for all occasions and pastries including croissants, Danish, seasonal fruit bars, a wide variety of cookies and tortes, and chocolate. 

Bob Carney was recently recruited to be the Chief Operations Officer of Valid USA, in Lisle. Carney is an Eastern Illinois grad with an MBA from the University of Houston. Carney will lead all operational and strategic initiatives, and head up business development efforts in the U.S. Valid USA offers secure solutions for data, payment, identity, mobile, and targeted brand messaging. William Small, Jr., founder of Aurora-based Jazz Perspectives, a talent management company, recently received the 25th Annual Award for Business Excellence from the Daily Herald Business Ledger. The company earned the award in the “Entertainment/Hospitality” category for their growth and expertise. The award was presented at the AABE recognition ceremony held recently at Medinah Shriners in Addison. Jazz Perspectives is a talent management company, specializing in solo to large group jazz, blues, and R&B musical entertainment. The company has clients in Chicago and in seven states and provides entertainment for hotels, restaurants and private events. The AABE awards go to outstanding suburban companies, businesses and nonprofit organizations in recognition of business achievement, growth and community involvement. Jazz Perspectives was one of 23 businesses recognized in 12 different categories.

The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), a leading gastrointestinal medical society, has recognized Edward Hospital’s Endoscopy Unit as part of its program specifically dedicated to promoting quality in endoscopy in the United States. Edward is the first hospital in the West suburbs and one of more than 450 endoscopy units to be granted the recognition since 2009. To be recognized by ASGE, a unit, through a peer-reviewed application process, must attest to the continued competence of all staff relative to their roles, demonstrate the adoption of unit policies specific to ongoing assessment of performance relative to key quality indicators, and attest that the unit has an established infrastructure and personnel dedicated to infection control and prevention.
