2012 marks a great milestone for Bruss Landscaping, Inc. of Wheaton as the company celebrates its 60th anniversary. Currently owned and operated by the third generation of the Bruss family, Eric Bruss, APLD, Bruss Landscaping opened its doors in 1952 on Roosevelt Road in Lombard as Bruss Nursery, Inc. The company was created by Carl and Anne Bruss and slowly but steadily grew as a retail operation at first, then taking the step into landscape design and installation services. In 1987, with the construction of I-355, second generation owner R. C. (Bob) Bruss moved the company to its current office and nursery locations in Wheaton and West Chicago. With this move the company diverted from retail to concentrate 100% on Bob’s passion of landscape design and installation. Over the years Bruss Landscaping has won numerous local and national awards for its quality design and installation services. Today Eric Bruss and long term V.P. Arnold Kroeze run Bruss Landscaping with a dedication to creativity, quality and customer service. Never wavering from a goal of total customer satisfaction and standards of the highest quality, Bruss Landscaping has been honored with numerous awards within the last two years as back to back winner of Glancer Magazines Reader’s Choice Award for best area landscaper and 2011 Reader’s Choice Award winner for Best Landscaper in Suburban Life Publications. Unilock honored Bruss in December with the 2011 Best Permeable Paving Installation of the year award for a home in Glen Ellyn. Recently Bruss has also been nominated for the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce P. Kenneth Gieser Small Service Business of the Year Award. This year C.B. Conlin Landscapes was thrilled to receive their 7th ‘Excellence in Landscape’ award in the statewide Illinois Landscape Contractors Association (ILCA) annual awards program. This year’s winning project, in the ‘Residential Landscape Construction’ category, was a renovation project. The new landscape was described as “a much improved transition to the back yard and especially appealing outdoor spaces”.

The project included an outdoor kitchenette, cedar pergola, swimming pool, hot tub, fireplace, deck, bar, additional seating, and seasonal plantings.

The Clients were most amazed how with proper design, there seemingly small backyard was organized into what they call their backyard retreat and how it “feels like a resort”.
