This Naperville couple celebrated their union with Taylor Swift, Disney, and a whole lot of sparkle
When Naperville residents Steven Gorski, 35, and Jibin Baby, 32, started dating back in 2018, it wasn’t long before they both felt like they had finally found their person. In past relationships, Gorski’s hectic schedule working nights and weekends as a dance teacher and choreographer had been considered an inconvenience, so he was taken aback at Baby’s genuine interest and respect for his career. “For me, it was the fact he didn’t see my career as an obstacle; he saw my career as something to celebrate,” Gorski says. Baby, an IT manager at Deloitte in Chicago, found himself in awe of Gorski’s selflessness and generosity, and his sense of humor was a sweet bonus. “Steve is a goofball,” Baby says. “He will light up the place.” Somehow, this right-brained creative and left-brained techie made the perfect match.
While dating, Baby embraced Gorski’s love for all things Disney, taking trips to Disney World and going on a Disney Cruise (matching outfits included). They incorporated subtle Disney nods in their June 2023 wedding at Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace, such as a cake topper and guest book poster featuring the balloon-tethered house from the movie Up, as well as tiny rhinestone Mickey Mouse charms tucked into floral arrangements.
A friend became ordained to marry them in the presence of 175 of their loved ones, including Baby’s family from India. As the couple recessed back up the aisle, each guest waved an LGBTQ+ Pride flag—a special moment for Baby, whose parents didn’t know he was gay until recently. “When I came out to them, it felt like a huge weight was lifted off me,” Baby says. “So, for them to hold that flag and wave it at me, I felt so much joy.” The couple wore traditional Indian sherwanis and turbans for the ceremony then changed into burgundy and navy tuxedos with rhinestone-covered lapels before entering the reception to “Bejeweled” by Taylor Swift.
They spent their Maui honeymoon hiking, parasailing, kayaking, and relaxing on the beach, and are looking forward to chipping away at their travel bucket list, which includes trips to France and Japan.
