Amid a massive slowdown in hiring—with more than 10 million out of work—Scott Lobenberg’s mission is to give hope to veterans. As the owner of HireX, a workforce solution provider, he hosts monthly job fairs online for veterans under the brand MilitaryX (militaryx.com).

“If you’re applying for a job, you submit hundreds of applications and you don’t hear back from anyone,” says Lobenberg. “The value that we provide is it gives candidates more hope—you actually get to talk to a hiring manager.” He says the MilitaryX virtual job fairs streamline the recruiting process and remove that black hole for a job seeker. “In Chicago, we have one every month, and we really like helping our veterans find work.”
