Jill Hlavacek has been named director of innovation and learning for Naperville Unit District 203. In her position, Hlavacek will focus on co-leading the district’s digital learning initiative and support the district’s learning services department as it provides curriculum development and teacher training in blended and online learning and new technology. Hlavacek was previously curriculum and instruction director for Encore Programs in Indian Prairie Unit District 204.

Lextech, a Downers Grove based company that develops mobile apps and provides development training to help companies succeed with mobile technology, has hired Kevin Schwartz as vice president, services. Schwartz is responsible for the strategic leadership and direction of Lextech’s Services organization, which provides customers with the expertise and resources needed to succeed with mobile apps. Prior to joining Lextech, Schwartz held senior leadership roles at Computer Sciences Corp., Aspect Software, Capgemini and PwC. Schwartz holds a bachelor’s degree in computer sciences from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York.

Jon Vogel has been appointed the new principal of Washington Junior High School  in Naperville. Vogel, who was previously principal of White Eagle Elementary School in Naperville, an Indian Prairie District 204 school, replaces Dave Kanne, who accepted an opportunity with another school district. Vogel is an experienced administrator at both the elementary and junior high level, and began his career teaching seventh grade language arts at Simmons Middle School in Aurora District 131 in 1996, where he taught for five years. He began his first administrative position as assistant principal at Traughber Jr. High in Oswego District 308 in 2001. Vogel went on to be assistant principal at Bednarcik Jr. High in Oswego District 308, Gregory Middle School in Indian Prairie 204, and was principal at White Eagle Elementary, since 2008. Vogel has a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Northern Illinois University, and is currently enrolled in a doctoral program at Northern Illinois University.

Howard Fox has been appointed to the board of directors at the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce. Fox leads the BP’s Finance organization for U.S. Pipelines and Logistics (USPL) and several functional teams. Fox joined USPL in 2012 and was previously the finance manager, Americas for Air BP. Prior to Air BP, Howard has worked in many roles within BP and the former Amoco organization in Exploration and Production, Chemicals, and Corporate. Howard is a graduate of the University of Kansas where he earned a degree in Accounting and Business Administration.

Naperville Mayor Steve Chirico named seven Liquor Commissioners including Dr. James Ostrenga and Scott Wehrli who returned to the Liquor Commission. The five newly appointed commissioners include: U-Jung Choe; Marc Blackman; Joe Vozar; Diana D. Williams and Charles Maher. Liquor Commissioners serve on a volunteer basis for four-year terms. Ostrenga most recently served as the hearing officer for the Liquor Commission. Wehrli has served on the Commission since 1994. Choe served as the executive secretary and hearing judge for the State of Indiana’s Alcohol and Tobacco Commission. Blackman worked for a winery for 10 years and has extensive business and leadership experience. Vozar served on the 360 Youth Services Board of Directors and the Naperville North Women’s Lacrosse Board. Williams has been involved with the Naperville Junior Woman’s Club, KidsMatter and Safety Town. Maher is a retired high school principal and teacher and served on the Will County Board and as a Ribfest volunteer.
