Sticking Around

Wallpaper has been on a comeback. Peel-and-stick varieties appeal to those who don’t want to tackle wallpaper paste and a messy removal process when the love affair is over. While walls are the most common application, peel-and-stick wallpaper can be applied to stair risers, furniture, ceilings, and more.

“We are seeing a ton of ceiling applications this year,” says Jennifer Matthews, founder and chief creative officer of Tempaper (tempaper.com), which is sold at the Design Bar in Burr Ridge. Also on trend for 2021 are nature-inspired prints and large-scale wall murals. She also recommends micropatterns in small-scale floral patterns or geometric designs.

“Think matte black fixtures or aged brass faucets against a nice, simple repeat,” she says. “It’s understated and beautiful.”
