Like the look of rugs but wish they were easier to clean and maintain? Boston-based Artaic has designed a product for this situation. The company uses robotic technology to create mosaic tile installations that have the look of textiles.
Its products are crafted from a variety of materials, including glass, natural stone, and porcelain, making it a fit for environments where rugs won’t do. Think kitchen walls, the great outdoors, or even the bottom of the swimming pool.
Buyers can select a ready-made design from Artaic’s collection (shown above, Manor in Pigment, $98/12×12 sheet; order localy from anusource.com) or create a custom pattern from an image they provide. Mosaics are manufactured at the company’s Massachusetts headquarters and can be shipped anywhere. Details: artaic.com.
