It’s time to take your fitness routine outside. The Naperville Park District is opening a new open-air fitness court at Frontier Sports Complex this spring. Designed as a circuit-training system, it will feature seven different stations; each empowers users to leverage their body weight to get a full-body workout. Instructions and sample workouts will be posted on the equipment and will also be available through a mobile app.

Free to the public, the court is the first of its kind installed in Naperville. It’s evolved as part of the National Fitness Campaign, a nonprofit that developed this type of trademarked outdoor fitness system in 2012 to help municipalities and schools transform public spaces into community fitness hubs.

“We’ve seen an increase in usage of the parks and outdoor fitness stations over the past several years,” says Naperville Park District executive director Brad Wilson. “We recently completed constructing a challenge course with fitness stations at Wolf’s Crossing Community Park that’s been extremely popular.”

The court will be located just south of the 95th Street Community Plaza, on the north side of Frontier Sports Complex at 3109 Cedar Glade Drive.
