Dr. Ibrahim earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and completed her fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

Dr. Bogan earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. He is affiliated with Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital and Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.

Sands will work in the firm’s corporate headquarters in Naperville. Sands has more than 15 years of experience in public accounting with a focus on addressing the tax planning and compliance needs of high net worth individuals, family groups and associated trusts and pass-through entities, as well as professional service and law firms. Sands previously served as a tax senior manager at Plante Moran and KPMG, and a corporate tax manager at the Sara Lee Corporation. Sands earned a bachelor’s degree in accountancy from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and a Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. He is a certified public accountant, maintains a United States Tax Court certificate and is a member of the Illinois State Bar.

NMAG01016_Business_Robyn Rippel_800pxThe Naperville School District 203 Board of Education appointed Robyn Rippel as the interim principal of Mill Street Elementary School in August. Rippel replaces Mill Street principal Mary Baum, who was hired as the Assistant Superintendent for Learning and Teaching for Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205. Rippel will serve as interim principal while the District seeks additional staff and Mill Street community input for a permanent principal. Rippel is a former Naperville 203 principal who attended Mill Street herself as a student. She came to Naperville 203 in 2005 as assistant principal at River Woods Elementary and served as principal in from 2006–2013, at Beebe and River Woods Elementary Schools. Rippel is also currently an instructor at North Central College. She began teaching Teacher Leadership in the Learning Environment in 2014, and was previously an instructor at the college from 1999–2004.

Dr. Papuga received her medical degree from Midwestern University in Downers Grove and completed her residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Dr. Papuga’s clinical interests include chronic disease management, women’s health, pediatrics, and osteopathic manipulation and procedures. She is a member of the American Osteopathic Association and American Academy of Family Physicians. EMG is a physician practice of Edward-Elmhurst Health and has more than 70 board certified family practice, internal medicine and specialty physicians who treat patients of all ages.

Prior to joining Linden Oaks, Dr. Weiner served as the clinical director of the Spectrum Health Addiction Rehabilitation Program in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dr. Weiner, a licensed clinical psychologist, earned his doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and completed his postdoctoral fellowship in Addiction Psychology with the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System in Michigan. He is a strong advocate for evidence-based care in treating chemical dependency and behavioral addictions, as well as for the benefits of integrating behavioral health services into medical settings. Dr. Weiner is passionate about educating healthcare providers and the general public about the nature and treatment of addictions—helping medical teams provide compassionate, competent care, and empowering patients to become informed consumers about their addiction treatment options. Linden Oaks provides care at a 108-bed hospital on Edward Hospital’s Naperville campus and outpatient offices in Hinsdale, Naperville, Plainfield and St. Charles.

Mergers and New Business

Heartland Cardiovascular Center, LLC has announced its intent to join DuPage Medical Group (DMG), pending final contract negotiations. Upon approval, the cardiology specialists would join the DMG team on or before December 1, 2016. Additional terms of the deal were not made public. With nine locations, Heartland Cardiovascular Center has been treating and diagnosing cardiovascular diseases for over 20 years. The practice is recognized for its early adoption of advanced techniques and university-level cardiac care including noninvasive testing, prevention, coronary angiography and angioplasty, complex peripheral arterial and venous interventions and complex arrhythmia management. In addition, Heartland Cardiovascular Center provides educational and research services through its Heartland Education and Research Foundation. The addition of Heartland Cardiovascular allows DMG patients to have their medical information shared seamlessly between physicians at both groups. This expansion will also grow a core service line for DMG, allowing its doctors to treat heart health when and where patients need it most.

Edward Hospital has opened the Tellabs Foundation Center for Clinical Simulation and Learning featuring new simulation rooms and expanded space for clinical training. The $1 million donation from the Tellabs Foundation to the Edward Foundation is the largest one-time amount ever received by the Edward Foundation. The Center is located on the second floor of the Education Center on the hospital’s campus, 801 S. Washington St. in Naperville. The Center features four simulation rooms—two multipurpose, general patient simulation rooms; a Trauma/Intensive Care simulation room and a Labor and Delivery simulation room—in which patient simulators are used to duplicate real-world care-giving situations. The 2,400-square-foot Center provides training services for Edward staff and physicians; community members, including first responders; Edward Ambulance Services; Midwest Heart-Advocate Medical Group specialists and DuPage Medical Group. Edward will also use the Center to assist school districts in training school nurses, and provide hands-on experience to students thinking about pursuing a career in medicine.

The Fort Hill Activity Center in Naperville opened to the public in August. The center will provide a wide array of indoor recreation activities, sports, and fitness and wellness programs. Located at the corner of Quincy Avenue and Fort Hill Drive, the nearly 80,000 square foot facility includes over 8,600 square feet of fitness space, four multipurpose rooms, a cafe, a children’s indoor playground, gymnastics room, walking/jogging track, wood floor studios and locker rooms. The gymnasium accommodates up to two high school sized basketball courts. Many programs will be offered at the facility starting this fall, ranging from drop-in programs, to athletic leagues, gymnastics classes, fitness classes, personal training, and many more. Gymnasium and multipurpose room spaces will also be available to rent for meetings, parties, special events, private events and birthday parties.
