On Saturday, April 27, more than 700 guests came together in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana’s (RMHC-CNI) annual gala, this year titled “One Step Closer.” Rob Stafford of Chicago’s NBC5 served as the emcee of the event to benefit local Ronald McDonald houses, family rooms, and care mobile programs.

“For the second year in a row, we raised over $1 million,” said CEO Holly Buckendahl. “Every dollar will go towards programs and services that enable families to get better together, ensuring that RMHC-CNI continues to be a beacon of hope and support for families with sick children.”

Attendees were encouraged to revel in red and sport their favorite red-shaded footwear, anything from stilettos to sneakers. Auction items included VIP encounters with Chicago sports teams, vacation packages to Cabo San Lucas and Key West, plus family-friendly outings to Chicagoland attractions. Guests captured memories at the photo station, danced to live music, and enjoyed late-night cheeseburgers.—MD
