Dinner Under the Scoreboard

The Jwegstrong Foundation hosted its inaugural—and soggy—Dinner Under the Justin Wegner Scoreboard Fundraiser at Knoch Park Memorial Field on Saturday, July 10. Despite the rain, more than 250 people attended the event, which marked the second anniversary of Wegner’s death. The Naperville Central graduate and University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball player succumbed to a rare form of stomach cancer in 2019.

“It was bittersweet because the event fell on the anniversary of the day Justin earned his heavenly wings, but it was also filled with hope,” said Ed Wegner, Justin’s father. Funds raised by the foundation (jwegstrong.org) help support cancer research and scholarships at NCHS and UW-Whitewater.

“We are so grateful to all of our family, friends, and the community for their unbelievable support,” says Cathy Wegner, Justin’s mother.
