After a challenging year, chef Patrick McLaughlin of SixtyFour Wine Bar & Kitchen in Naperville thinks we’ve all earned a little extravagance. Enter his “you-can’t-make-this-at-home” duck-breast risotto, creamed and colored with duck stock, beet juice, and Luxardo cherries. The dish is crowned with brie and flower petal “confetti.” “If you’re eating out with friends or family,” says McLaughlin, “it’s going to be a conversation-starter.”
