On Saturday, November 20, the Naperville Junior Woman’s Club hosted its annual Thanksgiving dinner for the residents of Martin Avenue Apartments. Members and residents alike were thrilled to celebrate the meal in person after last year’s COVID restrictions required meals to be delivery only.
NJWC served over 110 meals to residents, including 40 meals delivered to residents who opted to dine in their rooms. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, the group provided a full Thanksgiving dinner with dessert that included delicious pies and macaroons.
NJWC has been hosting Thanksgiving dinner for the low-income residents at Martin Avenue for over 40 years. “Because we’ve been doing it for so long, it is an event we all hold near and dear to our hearts,” explains philanthropy chair Angie Pines. “We love bringing some joy into the residents’ lives by serving them a delicious meal and letting them know they are cared about, loved, and not forgotten. Seeing the smiles on their faces brings us so much joy.”
