A custom-built home with a storybook setting
While there are no actual turrets or gingerbread, the manor at 4N964 Dover Hill Road in St. Charles, now on the market for $2.65 million, has a fairy-tale feel. “The setting of this home is incredible—the approach driveway over a bridge, the winding stream, the water feature,” says listing agent Jay Rodgers of the Rodgers Group in St. Charles.
Inside the timber-accented and vine-covered stone structure, there’s even more exposed timber beams across the more than 8,000 square feet of living space, as well as custom millwork and built-ins throughout, an impressive floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace in the great room, and an intricately detailed bar in the English lookout lower level (which also boasts a wine cellar and media room).
Out back, the lushly landscaped 2.2-acre grounds feature a freeform pool with pool house, a pond and waterfall, fire pit, outdoor fireplace, and built-in grill station. All poised for a happily ever after.
