The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley recently awarded 14 grants totaling $254,796 to local nonprofit organizations, including Anderson Humane. The animal shelter cares for more than 3,000 injured and orphaned animals each year.
Stick Dog author Tom Watson was one of many Illinois authors on hand at Anderson’s Bookshops’ 22nd annual Children’s Literature Breakfast February 24 at Bobak’s Signature Events in Woodridge.
On March 4 Benedictine University inaugurated Joseph J. Foy as its 13th president in its 137-year history.
During February, Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria locations donated $1 from each heart-shaped deep-dish pizza sale to local food banks, raising more than $40,000. The downtown Naperville shop (131 W. Jefferson Ave.) celebrated its 30th anniversary in February.
At the annual State of Naperville Real Estate program March 6, retiring Christine Jeffries (center) was honored for her 27 years as president of the Naperville Development Partnership. With funds raised by the 2023 Holiday Parade of Lights, the Rotary Club of Naperville on February 8 granted $70,000 to a variety of local nonprofits, including the Naperville Police Foundation.
The Edward Foundation recently presented $49,000 in nursing scholarships to 14 Endeavor Health Edward Hospital employees who are pursuing a degree or advanced degree in nursing.
