Towering Sunflower is a new 24-foot-tall mural by Naperville artist Erin Smith-Franczyk. Showcased on the Liam Brex building at 222 South Main Street, the work was funded through the Naperville’s Special Events and Community Arts Commission and will be on display for one year.
The Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce toasted its members at its October 17 event at the Shuman.

Naperville artist Richard Lo puts the finishing touches on his mural titled Chinese Kite Festival. The 26-by-12-foot work on the south side of the DuPage Children’s Museum was funded by a SECA grant.
On November 2 nephrologist Holly Kramer of Naperville received the Harold and Holly Schwartz Founders’ Award from the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois for her outstanding commitment and achievement in the field of kidney disease. Kramer works at Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital and also does volunteer work across the state.

High school students and community members battled on the boards in open chess play at Naperville Crossings during ChessFest on October 5. Naperville Crossings partners with Elite Chess  to put on the annual event, which benefits the Chicago Chess Foundation.
