The DuPage Symphony Orchestra partnered with Books Del Sur to present the educational program “Keys and Crescendos” to more than 550 students from eight DuPage County schools. At Wentz Concert Hall in Naperville, the students attended a concert and presentation featuring internationally acclaimed pianist Llewellyn Sánchez-Werner, along with members of the DuPage Symphony Orchestra and maestra Barbara Schubert.

The Rotary Club of Naperville awarded $200,000 in Community Service Grants to more than 35 nonprofit organizations during its annual luncheon June 5. Little Friends Inc. was one of the recipients.
CASA of DuPage County held its annual Golf Classic in May at White Eagle Golf Club in Naperville. This local nonprofit organization advocates for abused and neglected children by recruiting, training, and supporting volunteer advocates to represent each child’s best interests in the court and in the community.
Shuckin’ Shack in Naperville hosted Backstage Session on May 16 featuring Mark Addison Chandler and Nate Kenyon. The event raised $2,500 for Edward Foundation to benefit local cancer patients.
Launched by KidsMatter, the Teen Philanthropy Initiative in Naperville graduated its first cohort in May, with more than 20 high school seniors completing the two-year program to gain hands-on experience in the world of grant making, fundraising, and strategic volunteerism. This year’s seniors raised more than $15,800 from more than 39 donors. The funds will support the program and seed future grants.

Naper Settlement’s ‘Looking Back Is Looking Forward’ film—which introduces visitors to the living-history museum—was awarded a Silver Telly in Not-for-Profit and a Gold Telly in History from the Telly Awards as well as a Platinum Award from AVA Digital Awards. Narrated by Emmy Award winner Bill Kurtis, the film is projected on a 36-foot wall at the Birck Family Innovation Gateway and showcases stories of Naperville’s history.
As part of the Waves of DuPage: Beautiful Cities public art project, artist Rich Lo portrayed several DuPage County landscapes in the Ukiyo-e-style, including the Naperville Riverwalk. The project is part of the ‘Hokusai & Ukiyo-e: The Floating World’ exhibition at the McAninch Arts Center.
