On July 13, the second annual Water Street Fine Art & Fine Craft Fair showcased 18 regional artists who work in painting, ceramics, glass, wood, and digital art. Two artists from the DuPage Children’s Museum (above) created a floral chalk street mural, inviting the fairgoers to collaborate.

In collaboration with several area organizations and schools, Naperville’s nonprofit KidsMatter grew its SpringBoard Summer Series this year, offering more opportunities for students to experience careers in health care, pharmacy, construction management and trades, and physical and life sciences. Hands-on experiences included trying a virtual welding simulation, collecting seeds on the prairie, learning about medical gloving and gowning, and stepping into safety gear at a construction site. Participants in the Construction Management & Trades program toured a Bulley & Andrews construction site at Herrick Middle School in Downers Grove.
Students worked together during the inaugural Physical & Life Sciences program, hosted in collaboration with Fermilab’s summer camp in Batavia.

Health care students learned about gloving and gowning at an Endeavor Health Edward Hospital clinical career exploration session.
Coordinated by PowerForward DuPage, students visited Ironworkers Local 63 in Broadview and tried virtual welding simulations.
Students explored Water University at Nalco Water, an Ecolab company in Naperville.
