A team from Neuqua Valley High School took home a top prize at the Conrad Challenge in April, a STEM competition hosted by Space Center Houston in honor of astronaut Charles “Pete” Conrad. Team VOCL won the cybertechnology and security category for developing a product called Echo Pulse. The device is designed to help stroke victims communicate by using an LLM-powered headset to decode facial muscle movements into speech in real time. At the third annual Solstice Century Ride, 57 cyclists rode 100 miles through Whalon Lake Forest Preserve, raising nearly $122,000 to benefit eight nonprofits, including DuPagePads, Hesed House, SamaraCare, Grow Wellness Foundation, Max’s Mission, 4:13, Little Friends, and 16 Days. The event was created by Naperville resident Zac Larson.
