The Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Foundation’s 18th annual Chef Fest was held on February 8 at the Drury Lane Theatre and Conference Center in Oakbrook Terrace. Over 670 guests enjoyed a cocktail reception and a variety of signature menu items, donated by chefs from prominent local restaurants, bakeries and caterers.

Susan Tyburski, executive director of the foundation, describes it as a very social community event. “The way it’s designed,” she says, “people get up and walk around, running into others they know. It’s a very fluid event.”

This year Tyburski was impressed with the table displays of some of the newer restaurant partners, including Barrel House Social Restaurant and Bar, Livia Italian Eatery and One Fifty One. “Some of the new farm-to-table restaurants are really stepping up their displays,” she says. “It really adds to the feeling of the room and you get a taste of the restaurant vibe.”

Proceeds from Chef Fest support Elmhurst Hospital service enhancements, including two 2018 expansion initiatives in the hospital’s emergency department and intensive care unit.
