More than 200 people attended the 11th annual Cheers for Veterans Gala on November 4 at Bobak’s Signature Events in Woodridge. The gala raised funds to support Naperville Responds for Veterans and its mission to assist local veterans in need with home repairs and accessibility upgrades.
Attendees enjoyed food stations, an open bar, live music, and the chance to bid on silent and live auction items. They also took part in a “reverse raffle”: all 500 tickets were drawn and the last three tickets won $1,000, $2,500, and $10,000, respectively. Cash prizes were also awarded to the 100th, 250th, 300th, 400th, and 450th tickets.
“The number of projects NRFV has completed really hasn’t changed in the last two years, so we’ve had to become more creative in our fundraising,” says president Dan Jurjovec. “Last year we hosted the event virtually. With continued limitations we felt it was appropriate to make it a more casual event [this year]. People were happy to see photos of the projects in person. It was very impactful. Overall, the evening was a great success.”
