More than 1,000 pounds of produce was collected during the annual October gleaning marking the end of the growing season at the Ron Ory Community Garden Plots in Naperville. A total of 2,692 pounds was donated in 2025 to Loaves & Fishes Community Services—500 more pounds than last year.

On Sept. 26 Oswald’s Pharmacy’s in Naperville—owned by generations of the Anderson family (below)—celebrated its 150th anniversary, complete with state and city proclamations and lime rickeys. On display (right) were historic artifacts from the pharmacy, which were donated to Naper Settlement.

On Aug. 19 the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, and the DuPage River Salt Creek Workgroup celebrated progress on the Salt Creek restoration at Fullersburg Woods, which included the removal of the Graue Mill dam, restoration of more than a mile of channel, installation of riffles and boulders, stabilization of stream banks, and planting of native vegetation.

On July 13, the second annual Water Street Fine Art & Fine Craft Fair showcased 18 regional artists who work in painting, ceramics, glass, wood, and digital art. Two artists from the DuPage Children’s Museum (above) created a floral chalk street mural, inviting the fairgoers to collaborate.

The College of DuPage Foundation, in support of the McAninch Arts Center and the Cleve Carney Museum of Art, hosted the benefit gala “Waves of Japan: Night of Drums and Dreams” Feb. 23 at the MAC. More than $100,000 was raised to support the COD Foundation’s Major Exhibition Fund and the summer 2025 exhibition ‘Hokusai and Ukiyo-e: The Floating World.’ The evening included a production by YAMATO: The Drummers of Japan.
